Journey to Lowry Park and join Bay area Buddhists to observe Change Your Mind Day, an annual gathering celebrating shared Buddhist traditions that commenced 12 years ago in New York's Central Park, and that's currently celebrated in over 40 cities nationwide. According to Buddhist Peace Fellowship member Rick Ferriss, the title refers to Buddha's philosophy that we can help ourselves by changing our mental outlook.
The event occurs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sat., June 4, at the north end of Lowry Park near the Hillsborough River. Teachers from a wide variety of Buddhist backgrounds lead meditations suitable for both beginners and veterans; free literature and books are available for those seeking information; and harried parents can enjoy some peace while kids enjoy fun, supervised activities.
The free event is open to all, Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike. Guests can arrive and leave at anytime, and picnics are encouraged. For more information, call 813-980-2700 or e-mail [email protected].
