Breathe in, Stretch Out

Sat., Jan. 29 - Not to sound redundant about yoga but it's really good for your health. Those of us who practice this calming exercise (or at least try to) don't need to be convinced of its benefits, yet there are still tons of folks who are interested but haven't made it to a class. This is the reasoning behind Yoga Day U.S.A., launched by the Yoga Alliance in 1999 first as a fundraiser, then as a means to build awareness of yoga throughout the community. This year, Yoga Alliance undertakes its largest campaign ever by encouraging registered yoga teachers, studios, schools and other organizations to host events that are FREE, drawing in new students while giving more experienced students the opportunity to try something new. If you're interested in taking part, call your local yoga studio or gym to inquire about complimentary classes. We recommend Namasté Yoga Studio (10 a.m.-5 p.m., 17508 Preserve Walk Lane, Tampa, 813-505-1850) or The Lotus Room (9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 1101 W. Kennedy Blvd., 813-254-6777).
