Gainesville pastor milking the spotlight, new poll has Meek's best rating ever, and Obama puts it on the line: Mitch Perry Report 9.9.10

Post Labor Day, President Obama is getting fired up and giving speeches reminiscent of when he was on the campaign trail.  Whether it will move the meter in terms of the polls is questionable, but his speech in suburban Cleveland yesterday did fire up the base.

The inane pastor up there in Gainesville continues to get national and international attention (including a big spread on the cover of the USA Today).  Perhaps he'll listen to the President of the United States, who this morning said he should "listen to those better angels," and call off the Koran burning scheduled for Saturday. Yesterday the local office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations held a news conference to discuss the issue.

And a new poll shows Kendrick Meek still in third place and behind by double digits in his race for the U.S. Senate with Marco Rubio and Charlie Crist.  Yet it's the best survey results for him all year long.
