Get out your LGBT Memorial Day weekend calendar

At the L Train the next night, Saturday, 7 — 11:30 p.m., Tawney’s Artful Bodies presents a live, nude body painting party with the theme “Celebrate Spring.” Cover is $5.


Also Saturday night, G Bar, 1401 E. 7th Ave., presents Porn-o-copia, with exotic male dancers and over 500 XXX DVD giveaways. DJ Bruce Devery provides the music with VJ Charles Machado in the lounge. Doors open at 9 p.m.


Porn star Adam Killian will be at Liquid Tampa, 1502 E. 7th Ave., that night as well, performing live and signing autographs for fans. Free cover before 11 p.m. Music will be provided by DJ Greg Anderson and DJ Hansell Leyva.


Flamingo Resort, 4601 34th St. S., St. Petersburg, will throw a Memorial Day celebration all weekend, with drink specials, pool games, an outdoor barbecue and a USO-themed show on Sunday, May 26, 7 p.m.


Ybor City celebrates the holiday weekend with Gaybor Days 2013. On Friday, the Gaybor District teams up with the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival to present Red Lodge at Muvico Centro Ybor, 1600 E. Eighth Ave. Head to Bradley’s on 7th, 1510 E. 7th Ave., for a Drag Extravaganza with Miss Joey Brooks and special guests on Saturday night, and catch Alyssa Edwards at Hamburger Mary’s, 1600 E. Eighth Ave., on both Saturday and Sunday.


Honey Pot, 1507 E. 7th Ave., concludes Gaybor Days with a White Party on Sunday evening. An annual benefit for the Gaybor Coalition, this White Party presents David Aude as the headlining DJ and a performance by Vassy. The party starts at 10 p.m. with no cover before 10:30 p.m. and $10 after that.


In St. Pete, Georgie’s Alibi, 3100 3rd Ave. N., has a busy holiday weekend planned as well. Friday night is Georgie’s Naked Turtle Rum Party, with the Naked Turtle Rum Boys being on hand 6:30 — 8:30 p.m. Saturday night is the Tribal Heat Party, 9 p.m. — 3 a.m., with contests for best island, tribal and swimsuit attire. Sunday, there will be a pig roast and luau from 3 — 7 p.m. followed by the Mr., Mister and Miss St. Pete Pride 2013 pageants at 8 p.m.


Sawmill Resort, Dade City, hosts its Summer Kick-off Party this Friday through Sunday. The weekend will include pool parties, laser light shows, a Vegas-themed Sawmill Divas Show and more.

If you're looking to make Memorial Day weekend plans, there are plenty of LGBT events in the Tampa Bay area.

On Wednesday, May 22, 4 — 7 p.m., join local elected officials and announced candidates at the Harvey Milk Day Meet and Mingle at The Birchwood Inn, 340 Beach Dr. N.E., St. Petersburg. Tickets are $50. Proceeds from the event support two local non-profits, Pinellas Youth Pride and You Are Valued.

Lovers of literature should head to the L Train, 900 Central Ave., St. Petersburg for Wordier Than Thou’s storytelling open mic series on Thursday, May 23, 7 p.m. With a focus on fiction and creative non-fiction, this month’s event features authors Jeff Strand and Beth Adele Long in addition to its open mic slots.

And it’s not this weekend’s only LGBT literary event. There’s also a book release party for lesbian author Fiona Zedde on Saturday, May 25, 5 — 8 p.m. at R Bar, 1820 N. 15th St., Ybor City. The party celebrates the release of her latest novel, “Broken in Soft Places.”

Someday Souvenir’s Chrissy DeRado hosts live acoustic karaoke at the L Train on Friday, May 24, 8 — 11:30 p.m. Cover is $7 and an additional $5 for singers. Iris Calling will open at 8 p.m. and karaoke begins at 9 p.m.
