While you can hear the influence of hip hop in these lady artists, their styles seem to be emerging with something so fresh its undefinable. Take for example the artist ADDIQUIT; shes got a street swagger with chains around her neck, but some pictures she's cute and tattooed and wearing a gathered tube top? I for one am a huge fan. I enjoy that dichotomy; it shows the versatility of a person. As for as the music, it reminds me of Cat Power dipped in hip hop. ( Shunda K also does a track with ADDIQUIT called "White Leather.")

This new alternative feminine hip hop sound comes with a new style, too, and I venture to say a new identity. I may be making a gross overstatement, but I dare say it is a gay female identity, and we need a new face for the young, aware, talented gay female. There have been very few atypical gay role models in our society...and I see that changing with these girls.
