GOP's new Pledge with America" getting poor reviews from conservatives, Marco Rubio to go on Face the Nation Sunday, and transit tax critics bash light rail in Tampa: Mitch Perry Report 9.23.10

Happy first day of fall to you.  Perhaps we'll feel a change in the weather in a month's time? Or is that too optimistic?

Big weekend of NFL games, with the 2-0 Pittsburgh Steelers coming to town to face the 2-0 Tampa Bay Bucs.  Too bad you can't watch it (Not sure why this game didn't sell out, considering the number of  Steeler fans down here I see every Sunday at my local watering hole)  Or maybe you can, since today's Tampa Tribune has a nice article informing one of illicit websites to view the action.

Okay, back to the news.  House Republicans unveiled their "Pledge With America" yesterday, and it's getting predictably poor reviews from Democrats, but surprisingly, also from fellow conservatives.

Marco Rubio has had a week of devastatingly bad stories written in the local press in the Tampa Bay area.  Now he intends to sell himself on CBS' Face The Nation Sunday, where we're  hoping that the venerable Bob Schieffer will deliver some high heat, and not softballs, to the GOP senate candidate.

And there was a good ole' fashioned whipping of light rail Wednesday night in Tampa, where a couple of national critics unveiled their reasons why they think Hillsborough's proposal is a loser.
