Green Community Calendar weekend events: Great American Cleanup, Indian Rocks Beach Green Fest, workshops and more

Dunedin Green Market- Every Friday (through April); 8 am- 1 pm. Featuring fresh, local produced goods such as baked good, ready-to-eat-foods, organic plants and herbs, coffee, honey, seafood, clothing, and so much more. The Dunedin Green Market is located in Pioneer Park at the cross streets of Douglas Avenue and Main Street in Downtown Dunedin and runs every Friday.

Tampa Downtown Market- Fridays (through May); 10 am-2 pm. The vision of the Tampa Downtown Market is to provide local residents and businesses of the community with the freshest, highest quality, most nutritious, and most reasonably priced food & gourmet products. The mission of the Tampa Downtown Market is to serve as a community-gathering place where local farmers, producers, and artisans can offer fresh agricultural and related products to generate a sense of local pride and further the economic development of Downtown Tampa. With a strong focus on sustainability, the Tampa Downtown Market intends to provide a vehicle to educate the community on the importance of good health as we create more business opportunities and residential benefits. Located in Lykes Gaslight Square- Tampa St. & Kennedy Blvd., Downtown Tampa.

Tampa Clean City Day- Saturday, March 20; 8 am. The City of Tampa Clean City Division, along with Friends of Clean City, is proud to initiate this effort during the Great American Clean Up, the nation’s largest community improvement program, held between March and May each year.  New this year, is a partnership with Exide Batteries.  Bring in your old auto, motorcycle and marine batteries to one of the five staging sites for recycling and receive a coupon for a free pizza.

*  Registration will be from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

* Clean up and beautification projects will be from 9 a.m. to noon.

* Event celebration with activities will be from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. inside Raymond James Stadium

* Mayor Iorio will thank all the volunteers beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Ocean Conservancy/Keep Pinellas Beautiful Beach Cleanup- Saturday, March 20; 9 am-12:30 pm. In 2009 over 3 million volunteers helped cleanup more than 64 million pounds of trash! Partner with Ocean Conservancy and Keep Pinellas Beautiful to improve your local community! Please join us at the Tierra Verde Drawbridge as we join together with the rest of the nation to restore precious shoreline and degraded land habitat. Meet on the North East side of the Tierra Verde Drawbridge at 9 am. We will supply coffee, bagels, water (so bring a reusable jug) garbage bags and gloves. Please wear close toed shoes. St. Pete Beach Coastal Cleanup- Saturday, March 20; 9 am-12 pm. On Saturday, March 20th, The St. Pete Beach Community Center will host a Coastal Cleanup in partnership with The Great American Cleanup.  Volunteers can choose to work at either Pass-a-Grille or Upham Beaches and can volunteer their time between 9 am and noon.  No pre-registration is necessary and all materials are provided.  The St. Pete Beach Community Center will be issuing their own version of "Give a Day, Get a Day" passes which grants volunteers free admission to the St. Pete Beach Pool or Fitness Room as a special thank you for their hard work.  Call the Recreation Division at 363-9245 for more details.
