[image-1]Ocean Conservancy Beach Cleanup- Saturday, June 19; 9 am-12 pm. Ocean Conservancy will be removing debris from the Tierra Verde Drawbridge, please join us as we remove debris in an endeavor to make Florida’s waters safer for marine life. What to bring: Bring a refillable water bottle, garden gloves (we supply cloth gloves), sun screen, close toe shoes and a hat. We’ll supply: Water jug to fill from, a snack, gloves, pickers and garbage bags. Meet on the North East side of the Tierra Verde Drawbridge. RSVP to: [email protected].



Safety Harbor Summertime Saturday Market- every 3rd Saturday through September; 9 am-1:30 pm. Due to the increased popularity of residents and visitors having a "green" mindset and desiring access to local fresh produce, seafood, breads, sauces, cheeses and more, the market will have a "Summer Season" every 3rd Saturday from June – September. With over 20 vendors, folks will have a wide variety of fresh products and quality arts & crafts to choose from. Gazebo at John Wilson Park- 401 Main St., Safety Harbor.


Ybor Saturday Market- Every Saturday; 9 am-3 pm (year-round). You’ll be sure to find great produce at great prices, gourmet foods and sauces, fresh baked breads, fresh eggs, prepared foods, orchids, herbs and plants, pet treats, honey, unique gifts, photography, artwork, jewelry, woodworking, bath and body products, candles, and so much more. Centennial Park at the corner of Eighth Avenue and 19th Street, Ybor.


Guided Hike at Weedon Island Preserve- Every Saturday; 9-11 am. Guided hikes through coastal mangrove and upland ecosystems of the Preserve are held on most Saturdays of the month. Join us to learn about the coastal environment and the early residents of Weedon Island Preserve. Be sure to bring water and a snack for this 2-hour hike. A hat and closed-toe shoes are also recommended. Reserve your space by 2 pm on the Friday prior to the tour of choice. This event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required. Guided Hike at Brooker Creek Preserve- Every Saturday; 9-11 am. Take a walk through time each Saturday morning on a guided hike along the Education Center Trail. Join us for this 0.75 mile walk as we look at how the land has changed over time and discuss the ecological footprints left by those changes. Sturdy closed-toe shoes are a must, and water and a hat are recommended. Pre-registration is required by 12:00 noon on the Friday before the hike. Admission: Free. Pinellas Energy Efficiency Project- Saturday, June 19; 10:30 am. Pinellas County Extension is conducting a citizens' education project with faculty from the University of Florida. This project aims to provide education and materials to our residents to help them save money on their energy bill. Energy savings benefit the end-user as well as the environment, everybody wins! This class will provide tips and incentives to making your home more energy efficient, while still maintaining the same level of comfort. Energy saving devices will be provided to all participants. Saturday Grill at Whole Foods- every Saturday in June; 11 am-3 pm. Summer's On! Please join us every Saturday in June for our "Saturday Grill". Our chefs will feature grilled chicken, grilled burgers (cow, buffalo, and fish), bratwurst, veggie burgers, hot dogs and more along with sides and drinks. Victory Gardening Class- Saturday, June 19; 12-2 pm. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt cultivated the last major Victory Garden at the White House in 1943. First lady Michelle Obama rekindled interest in Victory Gardens last Spring when she and her family planted the seeds for the White House's largest 1,100-square-foot organic vegetable garden. Inspiring a host of suburban gardeners to do the same in economic hard times. Join us at Twigs and Leaves Nursery for a course on home stead gardening, and the challenges of gardening in Florida. Seasoned and aspiring organic gardeners can learn to plan and plant their own Victory Gardens in a one-of-a-kind, two-hour course. Attendees can learn the origins of victory gardens and how they are relevant in today's economy, environment and the social benefits. Organic victory gardens save resources, provide food, reduce environmental stress from the agricultural industry, and keep communities together. Tracking Wildlife Workshop- Sunday, June 20; 9 am. Shhh, and watch your step! This Father's Day join Sensing Nature® biologists and learn about tracking wildlife. On a short walk, become acquainted with some of Florida’s wildlife and their associated animal tracks, then learn how wildlife biologists use plaster casts to preserve them. Corey Avenue Summer Sidewalk Market-  Every Sunday; 10 am-2 pm. Local vendors will set up their wares on the sidewalks of Corey Avenue lending more convenient free parking for all, as well as covered walkways while strolling and shopping on Sunday mornings. Corey merchants will also be open during market hours adding a pleasant shopping  & dining experience to your normal street markets and fairs. There will be hand-crafted jewelry & gifts, foods & spices, aromatic soaps, healthy chocolate, local Florida photography, chair massage & more!  The Summer Sidewalk Market will run every Sunday during June and possibly into July (weather permitting). UnspOILed: A Benefit for the Suncoast Seabird Santuary- Friday, June 18; 7 pm. The [email protected] invites you to join us for this timely book release event which will serve to benefit the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary. UnspOILed: Writers Speak for Florida’s Coast is a new publication featuring works from acclaimed writers Connie May Fowler, Diane Roberts, Bill Belleville, Jack Rudloe, Dawn Radford, Felicia Coleman and Christopher Koenig among others. In this volume, 38 writers, scientists and students share their abiding love of Florida ’s Gulf of Mexico coast and its sea life. A book launch and reception will be held at The [email protected] on Friday June 18 at 7 pm, books will be available for purchase and select works will be read aloud.
