
Hillsborough County Commissioners are once again trying to cut tens of millions of dollars from their budget by the end of September. So the proposal to spend nearly $35 million for an emergency management center is understandably receiving some severe scrutiny from the board.
Nobody has been applying more scrutiny than Commissioner Victor Crist, who said on Tuesday that with the economy possibly dipping into another recession, taking on additional liability did not make good fiscal sense.
