The Hillsborough County Homeless Coalition will release their census numbers on Monday, April 23 during a Hillsborough Organization for Progress and Equality (HOPE) Nehemiah Action meeting.
HCHCâs last census, compiled one January day in 2005, found 11,023 homeless in the county. That put us sixth in the nation for our homeless population. This year's count was done on Jan. 25 (read my account of that experience here).
Hereâs an easy bet: Do you think the number will increase or decrease this year?
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at St. Maryâs Episcopal Church, 4311 San Miguel Street, Tampa. The public is welcome. For more information or to RSVP, contact HCHCâs Lesa Weikel.
The Pinellas County Coalition for the Homeless plans to release their numbers this month as well.
