If you were all wrapped up in Melania’s plagiarism, you likely missed this gem from the NY Post: “Male escorts are making crazy money at the RNC.”
The paper reports, “Male prostitutes contacted by The Post said business is booming and Republican National Convention attendees — most of them married — are clamoring for their services.”
This doesn’t surprise me. For every Anthony Weiner there’s a Mark Foley. People like sex. Even Republicans. And when people are away from home, they often like to have sex that’s different from the sex they’re having at home. More than once, at the Sail Pavilion near our own Convention Center, I’ve seen men clearly in town for a convention (name tags=dead giveaway) walking/stumbling arm-in-arm with ladies who may get money for their companionship.
No judgment, ladies. Make that bank. Gentlemen, get your not-included-on-the-expense-report swerve on. Don’t worry, businesswomen. I’m not excluding you. Take off them pantyhose.
I am calling out my liberal friends, though, who shared the Post story like it was proof that Republicans are terrible people. Comments like, “Hypocrisy anyone?” and, “They hate gays and they’re having sex with them” or, “Oh yeah. They’re SO religious.”
We don’t need to prove that these pundits are hypocrites to know they are terrible people. All their hate speech? That’s enough.
Let’s say, right now, there are photos, hidden somewhere, of Trump sleeping with a Muslim man while a family of illegal Mexican immigrants looks on, Melania in the corner, dressed in the Pulp Fiction Gimp’s outfit, and a picture of Hillary over the bed.
Sure, we could call him a hypocrite. But we don’t need to do that. And hypocrisy implies a fall from grace. When exactly did Trump, or any of his most vocal supporters, have any grace?
When I was a kid, I spent two weeks of every summer at Vacation Bible School. There was always a lot of talk of Sodom and Gomorrah, how God burned it down, killing all the “holy” hypocrites who were sinning (sexy sinning) left and right, with his fiery vengeance.
America in 2016 ain’t Sodom and Gomorrah. That was Genesis. This is Revelation. If we want to sit around and wonder why Melania willingly has sex with Donald Trump, or at least did at some point, we can do that. That’s worthwhile. We don’t have time to point fingers at Republicans buying sex in Cleveland. People who are going to vote for Trump are still going to vote for Trump, just like those of us who will vote for Hillary will still vote for Hillary even if there’s a mass missionary position heterosexual orgy at the DNC.
The horror.
