Hop on the Shortbus

The sensation of last year's Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, Shortbus shocked audiences and, even more shockingly, entertained them. A disarming blend of explicit sex and gentle humor, it follows, sometimes very closely, the romantic liaisons among a group of New Yorkers who frequent a downtown salon. (Don't miss the opening, um, shots.) Added attraction: Two of its stars own a home in Gulfport — PJ DeBoy (Queer As Folk) and Paul Dawson (Law & Order, Strangers with Candy) — and they'll be present for a meet-and-greet before the film. A fashion and drag show on St. Pete's downtown waterfront follows. Thurs., June 28: Shortbus, 9-11 p.m., Metro Center, 3170 Third Ave. N., St Petersburg; and Fashion & Drag Show, 10 p.m.-1 a.m., Fresco's Waterfront Bistro, 300 Second Ave. N.E., St. Petersburg.
