The reason why, according to Food Agenda 2020, is that factory farmed junk food is so harmful is because it combines several factors which have been cited as contributors to climate change, including deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions from factory farms.
We already knew junk food was bad for you, but who knew it could be this bad? But don't worry the proposed solution is not to stop eating.
A worldwide shift to local, organic food production would drastically reduce food system emissions and turn the world's farmland into a carbon sink to capture and store 40% of global greenhouse gas pollution, says the Food Agenda 2020 petition.
Food Agenda 2020 is calling for three changes that would go a long way in creating an organic, Eco-friendly lifestyle in America. These changes are:
1. Implement Truth in Labeling
2. Stop Subsidizing Destructive Policies
3. Build an Organic and Green Economy
