Newt Gingrich's rise as the latest challenger to Mitt Romney in the battle for the GOP nomination is more than just hype, if you believe a series of polls conducted by the polling firm of InsiderAdvantage/Majority Opinion Research, although this comes with a caveat.
This morning the Jacksonville Times-Union is reporting that in a poll taken Tuesday night by that polling firm of 513 registered voters who say they’re likely to cast ballots in the primary, Gingrich takes 41 percent of the vote, while Romney comes in a distant second with just 17 percent. Herman Cain is third with 13 percent. Nobody else polls in double digits.
The man who conducted the poll, Matt Towery, the CEO of Insider/Advantage, says he's blown away by Gingrich's surging popularity.
