Japan has long been at the forefront of sex doll technology. Some believe this is because of the country's penis-heavy ratio of men to women. Others, like me, suspect that the Japanese love technology—like, they really, really love technology. The trend of grown men dating virtual high school girlfriends became so popular that a Japanese resort town started catering to these men who carry around anime girlfriends on their cell phones. A young Japanese scientist created devices that can transmit hugs and kisses across the Internet. Now researchers have developed a robot that can talk and perfectly mimic facial expressions. As of yet, there is no word on what this robot is packing under the hood, or if she is made to withstand sex acts. While the developers may claim this technology is for general purposes, we all know they are working toward perfecting a robotic sex doll that will eventually be more cost efficient, and versatile, than a real girlfriend.
