Kelly Benjamin takes a shot at Charlie Miranda in new campaign video

Saying that when it comes to a long time vision, his opponent in the Tampa City Council District 6 race, Charlie Miranda, "hasn't been there, " Kelly Benjamin has released what he says is the first of three campaign videos.  This one, called "West Tampa," highlights a bit of his family roots in the area, and why he's the appropriate choice in the race between himself and councilman Miranda.

Meanwhile, Benjamin who was endorsed on Thursday by former council member Linda Saul-Sena, has a bit of an unconventional fundraiser this evening, January 21.  From 7 to 10 p.m. at the Cigar City Tasting Room,  there will be a sampling of the "special limited edition" of the "Vote Kelly" Cigar City Vanilla Bean Aged Imperial Stout.

Cigar City was a major story for a few weeks last fall as it went before the council to get zoning approval for that tasting room, which was strongly opposed by some local residents in the Carver City/Lincoln Gardens Neighborhood Association.

An initial vote on the issue deadlocked at 3-3.  Weeks later, the decisive vote in support of maintaining the tasting room at its Spruce Street location came from - Charlie Miranda.

Cigar City Brewing is located at 3924 West Spruce Street in Tampa.
