Growing up with my horse was a privilege, having to keep her at someone elses barn was not. Realizing a lifelong dream of keeping her in the backyard came true when I moved to Lithia on 5 acres. Little did I know that there would be much more than just the physical work to keep this small farm. That famous urban service line that separates urban from rural land - I can see it from here. What started out as a few re-zoning battles to protect what is left of rural Lithia from sprawl quickly turned into the fight of my life as my house sat under the ill-conceived Bypass. I am one of the Mother Founders of R-LAND (Rural Lithia Area Neighborhood Defense) and proud to be a NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard). While I dont enjoy constantly fighting the county to keep our neighborhood rural, as it turns out I do enjoy writing about it.
