Key West residents express anger over oil spill through graffiti

Tensions are flying high in the Florida Keys as we approach the 40th day of the oil gusher from the Deep Horizon rig; local residents have taken to graffiti to express anger towards BP (that has 65% interest in the rig). The acts of vandalism may be in response to reports of tar balls washing up on the shores throughout the Florida Keys, but the Coast Guard has stated that these tar balls are not linked to the Deep Horizon rig. These pictures were taken in Key West on Saturday, May 22nd. The canvas was the entrance to a construction site. Sadly, the art was painted over by the following day.

In more hopeful news, underwater robots were deployed in the Keys on Tuesday to search and notify scientists of oil or chemical dispersants along the coast, so far the robots have not reported any findings.
