Lady Gaga meditates fully nude for a kickstarter program (NSFW video)

Lady Gaga, 27, continues to follow in Madonna's career path, bolstering her brand as an artistic and independent pop star by appearing fully nude for an obscure cause.

"The Abramovic Method Practiced by Lady Gaga," was filmed to promote a kick-starter project for The Marina Abramovic Institute (MAI). The video resulted from a retreat in upstate New York where Marina instructed Gaga on her meditative practice, "The Abramovic Method."

The video is a collection of scenes in which Gaga holds various poses in different outfits, or in nothing at all, in a variety of naturalistic settings, while performing the Abramovic Method. From the video, this meditative practice seems like little more than holding a single note for an extended period of time.

While the video is art-school drivel, it does say something about Gaga's career choices. For some, it may seem odd that she chooses to appear nude in less than flattering settings, holding unusual poses, while being exposed to harsh lighting, as opposed to receiving a huge payout to pose nude for a magazine like Playboy. However, this is exactly the type of publicity stunt that helps reinforce her brand as an independent artist, a true feminist who celebrates the female body—a brand Madonna proved was very successful at selling pop music.
