A 100-year-old home has just hit the market with significant ties to Florida’s architectural history.
Built in 1925, the residence has been dubbed “Maison sur la Colline” and is located at 2300 N. Scenic Hwy.-51 in Lake Wales. It’s one of many historic and award-winning homes within the Mountain Lake private community.
The architect is Charles R. Wait, a renowned figure in the field who is largely known for the historic “El Retiro,” or the Pinewood Estate, which is situated in Bok Tower Gardens.
Wait also collaborated with famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., designer for the Bok gardens, on another house located in the Mountain Lake community. Olmsted Jr. is known for his work on Yosemite National Park’s Olmsted Point, the Jefferson Memorial, and the White House grounds.
The Lake Wales estate includes a main house that spans 6,536 square feet with several living areas, while the carriage house is 528 square feet. The property sits on just over four acres of land.
The residence is priced at $4.8 million, and the listing agents are Rhonda Heath with Mountain Lake Corporation and Colin Wells with Signature Properties of Central Florida.
