LeMieux to Haridopolos & Hasner: Meet me in Orlando

In a letter addressed to RPOF Chair David Bitner, LeMieux says with the entire Republican party establishment expected to be in Orlando for the straw poll known as Presidency 5 this fall, what better opportunity to have the first full fledged debate of this Senate race.

Chairman Bitner,

Florida will again be at the epicenter of the political world in 2012 with 29
contested electoral votes, the home to the Republican National Convention, and the
most critical Senate race in the country. With so much attention focused on Florida,
it is critical that Republicans have an opportunity to hear directly from the Senate
candidates and that is why I am proposing that the Republican Party of Florida hold
a televised debate at the Presidency 5 in September.

With so many prominent activists, political leaders, and statewide and national
press assembling in Orlando, it is an ideal opportunity for the candidates to
showcase their respective messages and directly address the issues facing our state
and nation.

If we are going to end the reign of Harry Reid in the United States Senate, we must
defeat Bill Nelson next November. Bill Nelson is an experienced career politician
who will not be defeated easily. Our GOP nominee must be able to effectively
articulate the GOP message, stand ready to win the battle of ideas, and go toe-to-toe
with the national Democrat machine.

I appreciate your consideration in hosting this important forum.

Meanwhile, Haridopolos will be making a campaign appearance this Friday at the Tampa Tiger Bay Club at 12 noon. That will be held at Maestro's, inside the Straz Center in downtown Tampa.

Although the Republican race for president in 2012 is just now starting to jell, things have been intense for awhile already between the three biggest names in the sweepstakes for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate next year.

George LeMieux is anxious to engage between opponents Mike Haridopolos and Adam Hasner, and has sent a letter to both camps today requesting they meet him in Orlando in September for a full-on debate.
