Les Miller takes early lead in Hillsborough District 3 race

The vote tallies being reported right now are mostly absentee and early voting, but the first numbers reporting in the Hillsborough County Commission District 3 race are very interesting.

Former state Senator Les Miller has started out with a solid lead, with 52% of the vote (2,811 votes), upstart Valerie Goddard is a distant second with 29% of the vote and embattled incumbent Kevin White is in last place with just 19% of the vote (1,023 votes).

If the results would play out, it would be a stunning upset, since many in the political establishment thought that White would somehow survive the negative publicity following his being found guilty of sexually harassing an aide a year, and making taxpayers liable for over $400,000 in his legal fees.
