Almost Famous
Re: "Rockin' Serendipity" by Scott Harrell

I can agree with you completely about The Urbane Cowboys and their serendipitously good music! I've been a fan of theirs before they were ever as big a hit as they are today. Take it from someone whose whole life was music; this group is going to make the BIG TIME!

Bringing Balance
Re: "Smoke and Mirrors" by Rochelle Renford

Thank you for your most recent commentary concerning the Tribune's most recent hatchet job on Mazen Al-Najjar and Sami Al-Arian. Your informed and even-handed perspective is sorely needed to keep this highly volatile issue properly balanced. Keep up the good work.

You or I have a choice of viewing within the previously sacred walls of our homes and the ability to switch channels with a swift modern procedure, using a device called a remote control. Clearly there are some, such as children, who must for their own protection be guarded from harmful visions emanating from the television. But adults must make the hard choices to be book-burning knowledge haters, fearing all that is different, or a bridge to the higher principles that celebrate the shades of humanity expressed on public access.

Re: New Planet Staff Writer Trevor Aaronson
Kudos to the Planet for hiring Trevor Aaronson as your new staff writer. Trevor, a good friend of mine, has been around editing poetry zines (White Elephant) and serving as editor in chief for art, fashion and travel rags (Event Magazine, Marco Polo) for just under a decade now, and I'm glad to see his talents finally reaching such a wide audience. His pieces, such as the cover story on Albert Whitted Airport (May 22), are a great example of what Trevor can do when simply left alone to write. More cover stories by Trevor would be appreciated. Oh, and a big story on Mekka Records would be cool.
