As unusual as this letter might be for criticizing a critic's opinion, please take it into consideration for the benefit of all educated, intelligent individuals.

My complaint is about the mediocre review of the movie What the #$*! Do We Know?! in the current issue of your newspaper. Not only is this analysis far from accurate, but the commentary is idea-less and ill-informed. We are talking about not just a film, but a documentary about quantum physics and quantum mechanics with the valid and important input of some of the most qualified and insightful scientists and spiritualists in the country.

I am an artist and a photographer, have a degree in pharmaceutical sciences, and have tons of friends even more qualified than me for evaluating this movie's context and narrative. We all agree that it's not only educative, but creative and mind-bending.

My main point, because some of us rely on your paper's critics for a little advice on what movies to watch: When confronted with this type of profound and intellectual film, assign the evaluation task to someone more qualified and knowledgeable, with more capacity for understanding this type of information, so we can at least have a "fair" review.

But on the other hand, he seemed to love SpongeBob! Hummm … I wonder why? Maybe he should stick with films like that — more alike with his common reality.

I'm calling you out. That's right, in front of everyone. You only came up with 11 film events for your recent review, "The 12 Flicks of Xmas." Now I know you work under intense deadlines and pander to an insatiably hip crowd that hangs on your every pop reference like so many chads, but I gotta say, Gremlins ain't a Xmas flick — it's filler. You have much of which to be proud, namely, your other 11 picks, all resoundingly cool. Never fear, I have your missing movie: The Ref, starring Dennis Leary, Judy Davis and Kevin Spacey. Burglary, abduction, cat urine, traditional Norwegian celebrations and a lactose-intolerant Santa combine to create the perfect Christmas story, albeit ever so dysfunctional. And we all know the best Christmas stories are just that. Thank you for your stellar effort, and if you will not concede that you've been served, then allow me to lobby for a 13th day of Xmas.

Thanks for the bad-ass write-up! That is one hell of a piece to have as our first. It definitely captured all of us and our view about all things emo really well. We are all very stoked. Thanks for making the interview process cool for us. We are rooks, ya know.

Thanks for the article [re: Todd Smith]. Hard to believe it has been so long ago. I remember when this happened, and how sad we were here in Tampa and St. Pete. Your article got me thinking about those nuns in El Salvador, who were raped and murdered by "military" men funded by Reagan and the CIA. Would we call those guys terrorists in today's right-wing world? For that's who they were… Anyway, keep up the good work on the column.
