A coalition of liberal groups is gearing up for protest rallies this Saturday morning in Tampa and four other cities across the state, focusing attention on several issues, including the battle for the restoration of civil rights for ex-felons, which has been a leading cause for at least a decade in Florida.

The recently enacted elections bill and juvenile "injustice" will also be the subject of scorn from the protesters, according to the coordinator for the Tampa protest, the Reverend Charles McKenzie from Manatee County.

He says officials with the Occupy movement, along with the Service Employees International Union, the NAACP, Rainbow/Push coalition and the AFL-CIO, are expected to participate.
