For those seeking a high-octane blast of rock n' roll to kick-off their St. Pete Pride weekend, the Local 662 presents Rock 4 Pride. Three diverse bands fill out the bill: CL favorites and Best of the Bay winners Rise of Saturn, their fiery fusion of reggae, prog, hip hop and funk marked by a double-dose of drumming, and the vocal trade-offs of trumpeter/rhyme-flinger Brad Gilmore and singer/bassist Ivan Peña. Someday Souvenir is a female-fronted rock band that delivers what Julie G. once described as "a pastiche of driving rock, introspective lyrics and poptacular hooks." Peña sits in on bass and 'Riz' on drums for this set, and special guest Shunda K of Yo Majesty fame makes a special guest appearance. Finally, Bedroom Set rounds it out with their two-piece brand of lo-fi blues-tinged indie rock, both musicians playing and trading off on drums, keys and guitar.
