Last year’s music issue drew attention to important behind-the-scenes players in the Bay area scene and among them was Ryan Zarra. The video producer is the driving force behind St. Pete Beat, a music video series that features fresh local talent performing in lesser-known locales. Zarra takes it a step further with five St. Pete Beat-hosted music and art shows organized to help some of his favorite subjects succeed in new endeavors. This one, Kickstartin' Art, supports indie rock foursome Oceana's Kickstarter.com campaign to record new material. The band has actually surpassed their $10k goal and recently announced via Facebook that all additional funds “will go towards getting us a tour van so we can bring this music to you.”
Also on the bill: majestic folk pop purveyors The Happiness Machine and retro indie rock trio Archaic Interest.
