What do you look for in a potential partner?
Just really good energy, someone who’s on my same wavelength. As far as my dating life, it’s almost nonexistent, because I’m always looking for that special vibe that doesn’t really come around too often. I just don’t want to settle for anything less.
What’s the best part about being a musician in Tampa Bay?
I continuously meet amazing people who don’t necessarily share the same goals, but want the same things, not to live a cookie-cutter life. We’re just wild and free and creative.
What’s one of your favorite love songs?
“Is This Love” by Bob Marley. Because he speaks about what I’m looking for.
Any of your own songs inspired by love, lust, or an object of desire?
I’m gonna say all of them [laughs]. Terrible; it’s like my diary.
Have you ever dated a guy who wasn’t into music?
No [laughs]. If you can’t understand music, I don’t even know how to have a conversation with you. Someone who doesn’t get it — it’s like, what? You didn’t hear that?
What’s the stupidest pick-up line you’ve heard?
“Have you been on TV before? Because you’re a star.” Totally cornball.
Favorite place to be taken on a date in Tampa Bay?
A stroll on the beach by the water is ideal for me. I get really turned off when someone offers me dinner and a movie. It’s just so unoriginal.
What was your first concert?
I’m Puerto Rican, so it’s like, duh [laughs]. I was a big fan of the boy band Menudo growing up. Once, they had a concert right in the city center… my favorite member wasn’t there because he was sick and I was just devastated. I was 7 or 8 years old.
What’s the one thing you most hope to accomplish this year?
If I could make a career out of music, that would be the best thing in the world.
