Business and Professional Women of St. Petersburg/Pinellas and several other area organizations present Preview Forum, an event at Eckerd College that unites journalists with the public for an open discussion about media technology and ownership, how these factors — in addition to government regulations — have inherently altered journalism, and how the community can respond.

Interested participants convene at 6 p.m. Wed., Sept. 14, in the Raymond James Room of Fox Hall for a light supper. Afterwards is a screening of clips from the documentary Control Room (about the Al-Jazeera news network and the role of media in war) and Blogumentary (about blogs), as well as clips from several television programs, including The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Media Matters: A Trip to the Blogosphere and Rich Media, Poor Democracy. "The News We Need: Finding Balance in an Age of Spin" is the topic of a discussion that follows.
