It’s no secret that the Democrats are floundering for the kind of support that then Senator Obama was able to conjure up from young voters. U.S. Senate Nominee Kendrick Meek’s latest weapon of choice: the beloved former President Clinton. In an effort to encourage young people to vote (and vote for him) Meek and Clinton will be rallying on the University of South Florida’s St. Petersburg campus on October 19th.

The race for Senate in Florida (and most other political elections) has mostly turned into finger pointing and name-calling. Meek is called too liberal, Marco Rubio is called a right-wing extremist and Charlie Christ changes his position so often no one is really sure what to call him. To students, though, this rally is important because they want to be seen and heard by politicians. Since Rubio has been gaining national notoriety and Christ is already well known, Meek was smart to target young voters and personally reach out to them.
