Depending on who you ask, the only promise Democrats want from Joe Biden is that he'll step aside and let a more progressive arm of the party lead the national conversation.

Thankfully Miami-born Karen Russell — a legitimate genius and best-selling author — will also be at Mahaffey Theater to moderate the conversation on June 4 when Biden brings a book tour to St. Petersburg.

Politics aside, the 44th vice president is an absorbing speaker with an even more compelling story. He'll share that story as part of a tour in support of his new memoir, Promise Me, Dad: A year of hope, hardship and purpose, which is about coping with work under extreme emotional stress.

MONDAY 7:30 p.m., $49.50 & up | Mahaffey Theater, 400 1st St. S., St Petersburg. | 727-892-5767 | local.cltampa.com
