We're a bit weary this Tuesday morning, having hung out last in Palm Harbor to get a chance to speak with embattled Pinellas County Commissioner Norm Roche, who made his first public appearance since he became front-page news regarding anonymously posted comments - comments that criticized his colleagues on the board, as well as gays and blacks. To the surprise of no one, the supercommittee in Congress failed. Tampa area Democrat Kathy Castor says she with the American public in having such a low opinion of the institution she works for.
And as promised, we've now posted our story on Occupy St. Pete crashing the Chillounge event in St. Pete Saturday night. The activists were calling out Bill Edwards, the darling of the St. Pete establishment these days, as his Mortgage Investors Corporation is among several major financial institutions named in a whistleblower lawsuit, alleging that company (and many others) were charging illegal fees on mortgages for retired or active-duty veterans trying to refinance their homes.
