It all ends today.

The GOP race for president? No, of course not, not with delegates being allocated on a proportional basis over the next couple of months. No, what ends tonight in Florida are the incessant television, radio and Internet ads, most of which are coming from Mitt Romney tearing apart Newt Gingrich. I have to say that it's the radio ads that are most interesting — there's always a barrage of television ads before every election, but I've never heard quite as many commercials on the radio airwaves in the days leading up till a presidential primary.

CL was out and about with the candidates yesterday in their final push to win the 50 delegates that are available tonight exclusively for the winner. We caught Newt speaking in Tampa yesterday afternoon.

CL contributor Josh Holton was in Dunedin to catch Mitt Romney's appearance.

Also in Tampa yesterday we stuck our microphone in front of Herman Cain's visage — the former pizza magnate and GOP presidential contender is now back on the campaign stump for Gingrich.

And lost amidst the campaigning by the high-profile national candidates is the GOP race for Senate.
Wait a minute — that ain't much of a race. Certainly Craig Miller wasn't getting any traction, leading him to announce yesterday that he was leaving that race to compete for one of Florida's two new congressional seats created because of the population growth in the state over the past decade.
