There was lots of discussion in political circles throughout Florida yesterday on the newest poll regarding, Rick Scott, Charlie Crist and the 2014 governors race.
Well, it was the "newest" poll yesterday. This morning Quinnipiac University has their own survey out, and the news again is ambivalent at best for Rick Scott. The governor is trailing Charlie Crist big-time, 50-34 percent.
That might mean the RPOF might want to make a change, right, since it's clear that a year and a half out, they're headed for a disaster for them, which is not controlling Tallahassee. But Scott smokes out the one man most often discussed as a possible foil for the governor, Adam Putnam, 47-24 percent. The poll also says Floridians support the Stand Your Ground law and expanding Medicaid through the federal government's plan…
You might have heard that yesterday was the 10th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, that comes just in time as new talk about Syria possibly possessing chemical weapons is heating up. It should be noted that there were always people in this country who were opposed to the war in the first place, though in 2002-2003 they were depicted as naive peaceniks. Some of those activists gathered yesterday near MacDill Air Force Base to observe the occasion.
We're working on a story about this proposed parent trigger law winding its way through the state legislature, so we watched intently yesterday as the bill went through the House Appropriations Committee. However it was kind of weird to see a bill go through appropriations and get approved without one minute of discussion about how much it's going to cost, isn't it?
