While officials with Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn's administration meet individually this week with members of the City Council regarding potential changes to his controversial "clean zone" ordinance, the activists who will be demonstrating in late August held a news conference and rally last night in Tampa, calling on the city to give them a permit to march on the first day of the convention - and get rid of the clean zone as well.
The man whose named will be mentioned disparagingly inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum during the RNC, Barack Obama, will be at the Port of Tampa on Friday afternoon to announce initiatives to promote with Latin America, but alas, the public won't be invited. Obama did speak before approximately 5,000 adoring students at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton yesterday, where he laid out the predicate for why the "Buffett Rule" is good public policy (link to come).
A poll released Tuesday morning shows Barack Obama leading Mitt Romney overall in their head-to-head race - with the exception of who is best in leading the economy going forward.
