Good morning everyone.
Several hundred members from the Republican National Committee are in Tampa this morning, where they'll be meeting all week. Hope y'all enjoy the weather, since it'll be just as miserable for you next year when you hold your convention here.
Speaking of miserable, we're feeling this way right now, as our post on Tim Pawlenty's visit to a Tampa coffee house has seemingly disappeared from the Internet. Approximately 70 people crammed into Buddy Brew to see the GOP presidential candidate, who showed up a half hour late and spoke (mercifully in the sweltering room) for only about 8 minutes before shaking hands, signing autographs and taking photos with fans - although several of the people CL spoke with said they were just "checking the tires," as it were, and hadn't committed to any candidate yet.
Meanwhile, Rick Scott was baking donuts this morning. We'll have an update on an expected protest at the North Dale Mabry bakery later on this site.
Florida Senator Bil Nelson is concerned about his re-election chances next year, as he should be, and just hours after supporting an increase in the debt ceiling, he signed on to supporting a balanced budget amendment, something nearly all Congressional Republicans were hoping would have been passed as part of the recent agreement.
Meanwhile, if you want to know more about our take on the Pawlenty appearance in Tampa, listen below.
