It was a rough weekend for this country on a certain level, as we learned Saturday morning that 30 Americans died in the shooting down of a helicopter in Afghanistan Friday night. That was followed at the same time with the news that Standard & Poor's had downgraded America's credit rating, a downgrade that John Kerry on Meet The Press yesterday laid blame on Tea Party elements.

Meanwhile, it's been nearly two months since Republicans running for President have been invited to debate again, but that resumes later this week in Iowa, right before the straw poll in Ames this weekend that should create substantial news.

And the Republican National Committee ended their 3-day Summer Meeting in Tampa on Friday, as they tested out their slams on Barack Obama that they no doubt will be repeating a year from now when their convention comes to town.
