Last week Mitt Romney blasted the Obama administration for "weakness" after an initial apologetic press release was issued by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo as they were threatened by violence. Hours later U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens was dead, along with three other Americans.
The mainstream media came down hard on Romney, saying it was inappropriate during a time of uncertainty in the Middle East that he was using the deaths politically. That prompted a furious reaction from conservatives, who said it was further evidence that the mainstream media was in the tank for Barack Obama, since the story of the day was the hostility felt towards Americans in Cairo and Libya – not Mitt Romney's reaction.
Will conservatives "double down" this morning after remarks made by a private fundraiser were released yesterday, where Romney essentially castigates all Democrats and/or Obama supporters as being dependent on government for benefits, and therefore aren't the voters he's trying to appeal to.
Now forgotten in all of this is Romney's speech earlier yesterday in L.A., when he touched a bit on immigration. But just for a bit.
