Big day for the folks here at CL: Tonight, the paper's biggest issue of the year, the Best of the Bay edition is released at an event down here in Ybor City. It's also the anniversary of my beginning this job two years ago to the day.
Too bad I don't feel great about it – a powerful storm last night knocked out power in my neighborhood from roughly 10:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. A bit hard to sleep when you feel on fire!
Okay, enough whining. Check out our new post this morning regarding President Obama's plans to reduce the deficit: yes, the GOP and centrists say its nothing more than a slick campaign document, but liberals are finally excited again, and actually the majority of the country likes what it hears.
CL was at yesterday's Tampa Port Authority meeting, where the director of that agency, Richard Wainio, will be offered a new two-year contract.
And it's all about jobs, isn't it? It sort of is in America these days, which is why you couldn't keep track of the press releases issued out by local politicians and Governor Rick Scott yesterday regarding the news that TimeWarner will located 500 jobs in the Tampa area over the next few years.
