According to the Washington Post, the majority of members in the U.S. Senate are undecided on whether or not to use military force in Syria. The whip count shows roughly 22 members in support and 22 members leaning against, with 56 undecided.
But in the GOP-controlled House, it looks very bleak for the White House. Only 19 members of that institution are definitively in support of dropping bombs on the Assad-led government.
Meanwhile, back in Tampa Bay: Chuck Harmon surprised a few people yesterday by announcing his imminent retirement, which will begin in January. The St. Pete Police Chief, who has always had a relatively low-profile for such a high-profile job, will have spent 12 years as the chief.
Although the odds are low that he'll be successful, St. Petersburg-based GOP state Sen. Jeff Brandes filed a bill yesterday that would ban all red-light cameras in Florida.
A lot of Democrats have qualms about Charlie Crist being their possible gubernatorial nominee in 2014, so Bob Buckhorn's comments — on Bay News 9's Political Connections program — regarding the situation shouldn't shock anybody. But the Republican Party of Florida seized on the mayor's remarks, using them in its daily email press release that's centered around bashing Crist.
And $5.6 million later, parts of East Tampa have a brand new look. A new roundabout in the middle of North 22nd Street was unveiled yesterday.
