Good morning everybody, how about that speech by Barack Obama yesterday on how he would reduce the deficit over the next decade plus?
Okay, so it wasn't the most scintillating thing ever (Joe Biden certainly would agree) but it was extremely important in terms of the President actually taking a step on leading the way on deficit reduction, instead of allow the Republicans to control the agenda on this critical subject. And so far anyway, the public agrees with his ideas to reduce the deficit by raising taxes on the rich and not eliminating Medicare as we know it.
Speaking of polls, an interesting one that asked Florida voters a whole host of questions was released last night. It shows that other than Mitt Romney, Republicans in this state aren't really excited about anybody else, and that includes conservative standby's Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin.
And former Mayor Rick Baker talks about Midtown, Goliath Davis, and the homeless issue in the second part of our recent interview with him.
And we want to let faithful readers know that will be away from this stage for a few days, as we fly out later this afternoon to Southern California, for the 2011 Coachella Music Festival, featuring some of the most interesting voices in contemporary indie rock, rap and dance music, including the Arcade Fire, Kanye West, the Strokes, Kings of Leon, and a lot of other bands not as famous who were really into. So we won't see you back here until the middle of next week.
(Apologies for no podcast again today – we hope to have the computer situation addressed by next week).
