Yes, you read that right. That’s what Calvin Harris said as Pinellas County Commission debated its human rights ordinance. The sticking point was whether to give transgendered people the same legal protections the board voted to give gays, lesbians and bisexuals. In the end, the commission did not. To help out Commissioner Harris (who apparently has not read a newspaper, gone to the movies or watched television in the last 25 years) here is the answer to his question: If a dude no longer has a dick and has tits instead, that person is mostly likely transgendered. There is the reverse as well, Commissioner Harris, where a chick gets a dick. (And if said dude or said chick hasn’t had the operation but still prefers to cross-dress, that’s transgender, too.) Given the discrimination people like former Largo City Manager Susan Stanton have faced, the transgendered probably need legal protection more than anyone.
