There are a lot of ornery 70-somethings in Tampa Bay, but none as socially conscious as Cam Oberting. For nearly three decades, the 74-year-old Seffner resident has fought against landfills, litterbugs and illegal dumping in Hillsborough County. Her tenacity earned her the County Commissions first-ever Moral Courage Award in 1992, and though shes been constantly harassed and threatened by the big-money interests shes up against, Oberting continues to shed light on developers and corrupt government officials. Im going to continue what I do, she says, and if people dont like it too bad.
