Muvico theatres & TPD collaborate to remember fallen officers

That's because beginning tonight and going thru Sunday, July 3rd, Muvico says they will donate 50 cents from all large popcorn sales to benefit the families of the slain officers.

We're not exactly huge fans of the Transformers genre - that would be an understatement. However, lots of other folks are, and if you do plan on seeing the film this weekend, and consuming popcorn products, well, that's a small way to help out the families of officers Kocab and Curtis.

It was a year ago today that Tampa Police officers Jeffrey Kocab and David Curtis were gunned down by suspected killer Dontae Morris.

The anniversary of that sad day will be marked by the unveiling of a new mural memorializing fallen officers called the Hallway of Heroes tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the District 3 Office at 3808 North 22nd in Tampa. Police Chief Jane Castor, Mayor Bob Buckhorn and former Mayor Pam Iorio will speak during the ceremony.

After the ceremony, Muvico, the owners of the Centro Ybor cinema in Ybor City, will invite a group of family members and friends of the officers to a screening of the new Michael Bay opus Transformers:Dark of the Moon.

And for those who were considering seeing the picture this 4th of July Holiday weekend, there's a way your attendance can help out those families.
