Why do I support
I am pro-choice. I firmly believe that it is up to an individual woman to determine what to do with her body, not the government. Obama is pro-choice and backs Roe v. Wade. McCain calls it a flawed decision and wants to overturn it.
Education is also very important to me, I do not agree with the No Child Left Behind Act. It eliminates any love of learning and only teaches children to become sheep, moving along with the crowd making no mistakes when filling #2 (not mechanical!) pencil-laden bubbles on standardized tests. (Of course, Ive been homeschooled for over 10 years) I agree with the reformation of NCLB - Obamas stance.
Obama and I are in synch on Iraq, too. Appropriately, each nominee has designated an entire section of their website to the war. Knowing people currently in Iraq, both friends and family, I dont feel they should be there. I dont think we should still be there today. Pulling them out all at once is not an option, and neither is leaving them there indefinitely. Obama's plan is a phased exit, slow but efficient.
I hear people say McCain has more experience; Obamas new. Both McCain and Obama have experience as senators. McCain has experience as a soldier and politician. Obamas early experience took him to the streets of South Side, Chicago, working with the poor, helping them better their lives. I can relate to Obama; I think he can relate to the average American when hes president in Washington.
