Ever since CL wrote about Hillsborough County animal rights activist Barbara LaPresti's last August, we've received updates from her over the past few months about the efforts to have the County enact an anti-tethering law regarding dogs.
Such legislation has taken off in local governments in the Bay area, throughout Florida, and across the country in recent years, but it's not been a smooth road to get an ordinance approved.
But she sent us an e-mail on Thursday, informing CL that despite "strong" objections from several board members, the Hillsborough Animal Advisory Board has approved new language that she says "basically" says that no person should be allowed to tether (chain, tie up) their dog for more than 30 minutes at a time. Though it's not what she and others were demanding, she says "it's a start."
