New poll shows Meek campaign in serious trouble; Florida gubernatorial candidates react to Judge's ruling on Arizona immigration case, and BOCC retains land use ombudsman position :Mitch Perry Report 7.29.10

The latest major poll in Florida's two big primary elections show Rick Scott continuing to have a double digit lead over Bill McCollum in the GOP race for Governor, and the real stunner: Jeff Greene now up by double digits over Kendrick Meek in the Florida Democratic Primary.

Somewhat predictably, both Scott and McCollum reacted critically yesterday to a federal judge's ruling that brought down parts of Arizona's proposed anti-illegal immigration law.  More interesting was Alex Sink's nuanced response.

In the new issue of CL, we write about Maricela Medrano, and how the usually quiet but substantial Latino community in Hillsborough County has come out and showed itself in supporting the Hillsborough County land use ombudsman.  Yesterday, County Commissioners, over the objections of Administrator Mike Merrill, voted to retain her job.
