College tuition rates have gone up exponentially in recent years (if not decades), though not nearly that large in Florida state colleges and universities.
Because of that, officials with the university system were able to lobby state lawmakers to begin raising tuition levels up to 15 percent annually back in 2008. That occurred when Charlie Crist was governor. But Rick Scott has championed lowering tuition rates, and not surprisingly he's using that issue in a new television ad against the former governor.
What the ad fails to acknowledge is that in fact, those tuition increases were approved by the GOP-led state Legislature.
