Sundays are for relaxing and enjoying the remaining hours of the weekend before the grind begins all over again. Make the most of the rest of your down time this week by packing the cooler with sandwiches and fresh fruit, grabbing a blanket or chair and a loved one (or two), and heading to Plant Park to enjoy the Henry B. Plant Museum's old-fashioned Picnic in the Park.

Live a capella melodies by a barber shop quartet, strolling models dressed in authentic Victorian clothing, Victorian sports like hoops and sticks, horseshoes, badminton, checkers, jacks and tiddlywinks — all are meant to transport you back to time when Bay area folks enjoyed the simple things in life.

University of Tampa's 75th Anniversary celebration culminates at the event and features plenty of other diversions for the hard-to-entertain types, including academic displays, dance demonstrations, children's activities, a UT student art show, health screenings, a UT memorabilia and future plans display, an oral history corner and a Friends of Plant Park exhibit. The university offers minaret climbs for $7.50 a person and the silent auction for a minaret climb special event goes toward student scholarships.

Beginning at 3 p.m., the UT Band plays "Happy Birthday" and serves cake and ice cream, with UT President Ron Vaughn greeting guests and introducing the UT Band for a 3:30 p.m. Diamond Jubilee performance that concludes with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and the Gasparilla canon.

Sun., April 15, noon-4 p.m., Plant Park and Plant Hall, University of Tampa, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, free admission to all events (reduced museum admission of $1), 813-253-3333.
