If you've been waiting for a chance to slip a Santa suit or reindeer antlers onto your tiny Chihuahua and make the little pup prance around in front of animal-loving strangers, the City of St. Petersburg and Pet Food Warehouse have just the event for you. The Holiday Pet Festival and Adoptathon is held at the Azalea Recreation Park this weekend to raise money in support of a low cost spay/neuter clinic in Pinellas County, the last in a series of canine charity events to benefit SPOT (Stop Pet Overpopulation Together). In addition to the pet walk and costume contest, you and your furry friend can get photos taken with Santa and meet a variety of adoptable cats and dogs, and you can treat Fido to a pet massage or get his nails trimmed. And if you're weren't planning on getting him Christmas present this year, the arts and crafts fair will surely make you reconsider. Sat., Dec. 8, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., 1600 72nd St. N., St. Pete, 727-545-3463, free, spotusa.org.
